On an evening watching Duke and Miami hoops

Larkin
Early in the second half,  Stewart leans over and says “The Miami point guard with the yellow shoes is named Larkin and he looks a lot like the famous Reds shortstop Barry Larkin.  Think that is his son?”   After I confirmed this on my google machine,   Stew leans back in.. “how many of your friends wives would have put that connection together?”,    I replied  “Hell none of my friends wives would have accepted pizza and college basketball as a valid saturday evening activity,  I was way ahead before you even opened your mouth”

Screaming
We had to correct Ava a couple of times through the day Saturday because she is enjoying screaming in a high pitch voice for fun.  She does this in restaurants, cars and next to my ear.   So we’ve been telling her not to do that.      During the final minutes of the Duke/Miami game,   Ava walked over to me,  “Daddy,  mommy’s screaming is hurting MY ears”   Me:  “I know,  there is nothing that  can be done until the game is over,  sit on my lap and I’ll help you cover your ears”

Comparing the Teams
The Miami players looked more athletic and two gears faster than Duke at every position.  They seemed to score at will, but then get confused for a play or two,  then recover and score at will again.   I fully expected Duke to be losing at every stage of the game until I looked at the scoreboard.

The rebound advantage by Miami was staggering.   Duke had 4 offensive rebounds, and seemed to have no desire to follow their own shots in.

Ryan Kelly’s epic performance was the difference between victory and getting blown out again in my humble opinion
